COTE News:
On Wednesday, March 9th, Rich Rosen and Lloyd Unsell attended a meeting of the COTEdc. The invitation included a promise to discuss
"What Makes a COTE Chapter Successful," and we were not disappointed!
COTEdc has a listserve list of 428 members (both inside and outside the DC AIA Chapter),
and typically have 20-30 show at their regular monthly meetings, many of whom are actively involved
in chairing activities, such as:
- Upcoming Green Building Tours in Silver Spring, MD.
- Their Summer Solstice get-together at the U.S. Botanical Gardens, which last year had over 400 in attendance.
- Their Third Annual "House of Cards" effort, which endeavors to teach young children about sustainable home design.
- Developing, with the chapter, an active "Architecture in the Schools" program and lesson plan.
- Involvement with the Annual Green Building Awards at NBM, and the Solar Decathlon.
- Regular updates on green and sustainable activities and events through their WEBSITE.
- A strong desire to assist the AIA/PV in getting a active COTE, and working jointly on projects.
To that end, we would like to hold an initial meeting of interested chapter members to discuss the possibility of having an active COTE in our Chapter. We plan this meeting for Wednesday, March 30 at 6:00pm at the Chapter House in College Park.
Refreshments will be provided, so if you would like to attend this informal meeting, please RSVP to Lloyd NOW!
