Membership Information The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the nation's largest organization representing members of the architectural profession. Founded in 1955, The AIA|PVC Chapter is based in College Park, Maryland. AIA|PVC serves the professional needs of over 500 members in Montgomery, Prince Georges, Frederick, Garrett, Washington , and Allegany Counties. AIA|PVC is dedicated to meeting the needs of architects, designers, contractors, and related industry professionals. How? By providing quality service, advancing member value, supporting professional development and providing unique networking opportunities. Membership Categories Firm Owner Member: for principals of architectural firms. Architect Member: for registered architects. Associate or Intern Member: For those who work for an architect (assoc.), or are registered in the Intern Development Program (Intern). Student Allied Member: Any person who is a registered student in a school of architecture at an accredited university may join as a student member. Membership runs from September 1 to August 31 of the following year. Allied Professional or Professional Affiliate Member: for those who depend on the same sources as architects for their income (Allied Professional), such as licensed professionals, contractors, surveyors, etc., or depend on architects for their income (Professional Affiliates), such as manufacturers reps., suppliers, etc. (click the application under the category for more information!) Unassigned Members: Any member who is a regular (voting) member of another chapter, and would like to avail themselves of AIAPVC member benefits without transferring their membership, may join as an "Unassigned" member (with all chapter priviledges except voting) by paying regular chapter dues for their dues category. Their "Assigned" (voting) membership remains at their "Home" chapter. All Members, Associate Members and Intern Members of the Chapter are also members of AIA Maryland, the state component organization of the American Institute of Architects, located at One State Circle in Annapolis.
