Jury Comments: In this project's beautiful curtain wall, the texture of the façade subtly transforms between the two prime elevations forming a rich envelope. The selection of transparent glass, the sunscreens, and the extension of the curtain wall beyond the roof add to the depth and richness of the taut building.

Jury Comments: Beautiful restoration of a traditional beaux-arts style hall which blends formal architecture with contemporary exhibit design. The jury appreciated seeing the historical photography juxtaposed against the images of the new space. In a time where climate change is making headlines, restoration and revitalization of important architecture like the NMNH in Washington, DC is essential and the entire team should be commended.

Jury Comments: This project boldly transformed a bland mid-century school building through its use of an inviting entrance canopy and glassy multi-story atrium. The abundance of natural light and theatrical transformation of the auditorium would set the stage for a wonderful evening event. The circulation pattern was much improved in the 'before and after' plan graphics.
